hey guys I'm just wondering if any fan here reads haruki murakami novels, and gets the similar feeling of listening to death cab while reading murakami Smiler

*I only really appreciated brothers on a hotel bed after reading south of the border, west of the sun (by murakami) :]

don't be so cruel... this is a fan forum right? just asking other people's opinions, if you have nothing better to say or post then don't at all. Are you so narrow minded, that if you're not familiar with something you'd dismiss it as weird... or for lack of something better or witty to say: spam?

haha I'm just kidding... I'm alright if you're not familiar with his work, I'm just hoping someone here knows what I'm talking about. peace :]

cool.... you know the song, I found the book more connected with the song, brothers on a hotel bed instead of the book's title.... hope you'd give the book a try Smiler

I know what you mean, though I have yet to read South of the Border, it's on my list. Death Cab for Cutie has the same type of feeling as Murakami's works. I am a big fan of Murakami, though I haven't read all his books. I study japanese language and hope to in the future be able to read his stories in their true form. The feeling I get is like, not to be some wierdo but, like passiveness and happiness that has come from sadness. It is like only half satisfication. Anyway, I totally know what you mean.

Oh my goodness, you totally get what I mean. Smiler Big Grin Smiler I've always wondered how the original (japanese) differed from the translated version, plus its awesome you're studying japanese. I always get that unexplainable feeling of hapiness from some sense of alienation when reading Murakami, same strange feeling of joy when listening to Death Cab. Thank-you :]

I know for a fact that some of works when translated to english had chapters left out or moved around in the book.
