I honestly don't get Twitter. Why would anyone care about someone's life enough to check their 'updates'? It just means you haven't got a life of your own to lead really.

It's your funeral and it's fantastic.

Jim, honest to god you are one of the most intolerant people I have never met. You bitch about EVERYTHING that you don't think is right or that you think other people shouldn't be allowed to like. Just learn to accept that other people have interests that don't apply to you.

Do you realise you said 'why would anyone care about someone's life enough to check their 'updates''? Damn straight Jim, how dare people care about others! Fuck People! amirite jim? I think the whole point of Twitter, Jim, is that it only takes a short period of time to contribute and it lets you find out about other peoples interests and hobbies I guess.

Keep in mind, a lot more people would say that they don't get someone contributing to a band message board. If you're wasting time here, surely you haven't got a life of your own to lead really? And if you answer that by saying 'well I do have a perfectly happy life even though I visit a band message board daily', there is your answer to why people use twitter.

Pretentious asshole

Ps. I don't use twitter because only 'tards like purp use it Eeker .

Absolute nonsense. Awful website for boring people who pretend to be interesting. Going on a band's website, or your football teams forum, or general music forums website is totally acceptable because usually the people on there are like minded and may even give you valuable suggestions. Twitter is just for morons who think that making a sandwich is news, I'm sure there are some French philosophers who use Twitter and I would find their inner most thoughts profound and life-changing, but I'm not shifting through rubbish to find it.

I'm not "pretentious" in the slightest, the opposite of pretentious actually. I just despair at modern culture's obsession with telling everyone what people are doing. And I do care about people's lives, that's why I go to the pub/football/out with friends so I can hear their inner most feelings, fears and desires. I don't sit at my computer waiting for some chubby teenager from Kansas to update his Twitter so I can find out what he had for tea.

A fat kid from kansas drinking tea! That's funny, I think people in the south think you're gay if you drink tea. They eat deep fried twinkies down there Tunstall. High class.

Jim meant eating tea, not drinking tea. Two different tings.

I don't get Twitter either. But then I am 46.

My daughter (9) just got a webcam with built-in mic, and now gets great enjoyment talking to her friends on MSN, in preference to actually talking to them in the flesh. Slightly worrying.

My son (7) on the other hand, won't stay in the house if the sun is up. We've made him carry a tracker. Seriously. Again, slightly worrying.

Just different strokes for different folks I guess.

We nicknamed our kids - strangely strange and oddly peculiar. For entirely different reasons.

Facebook, twitter, blogging, it's all pants to me, but great for other people.

Enjoy what ya like.

And the hardest part is yet to come

It's an evening meal. Like people from America say "lunch and dinner", as do soft Southerners over here.
Well some people say "dinner and tea".
