i am currently using fruity loops. it is great for what im trying to do but the problem is u cant choose how long the note will last. So i cant get a keyboard like effect. a good example of the shound im going for is at the begining of The District Sleeps Alone Tonight by the postal service. There are no gaps in between the notes and fruity loops wont let me do that. does anyone know of any software or anything that will do what im talking about?

Native Instruments absynth does, but it isn't free, and when you make something with it you can't load it into Fruity Loops without Fruity Loops fucking up. I think because it's a free version. But if you're paying for Fruity Loops that could be an entirely different story.

Good luck!

you can drag out the length of a note in fruity loops. When you're in the editor thing where you add the little bars, just select the corner and drag it to make the bar bigger. That prolongs the note. Atleast it did back in the day.

It prolongs it to some extent, but nothing like the prolonged notes in The DIstrict Sleeps Alone Tonight.

a program called reason is what i use, it's wonderful. it's not free though. if you want to hear what it can do, go to http://www.myspace.com/wakeupdonnie and listen to the track "herbster". made entirely in reason.
