i'm getting my last paycheck next week, which is supposed to be fat enough to pay for this purchase. i'm going to buy a tele-style guitar within the next week, and i'm very interested in g&l guitars, since everything is hancrafted and original Leo Fender work, fender tele's, just because they are the original gangsta of the telecaster, and the esp hybrid, because i'm into harder, drop-tuned rock, as well as a buttery clean tone. i'm choosing among this ASAT tribute solidbody: this ASAT tribute hollowbody: this fender MIM standard tele: and this esp hybrid-400: any suggestions? thanks, i appreciate any help.
You've got good taste. I've sold guitars for the last 11 years and if the classic "tele-tone" is what you want, you can't go wrong with the ASAT. Myself, I've got 15 electric guitars from Fenders and Gretschs all the way up to cheap pieces of crap that sound great. Always go for sound. If it sounds good, feels good and looks good (in that order), then it is good for you.

I think you guys are missing the point. It's not the guitar you use, it's how you play it. I have a chinese stratocaster that sounds better than other peoples $3,000 guitars who have been playing just as long as I have.

i know what you mean, i have a $300 drumset that i gave a new paintjob and the right hardware and it sounds great to me. but with guitars especially, there's always this punch for aesthetic. not to say i will ONLY buy a good-looking, or recognizable, or vintage guitar for said qualities, but i'd appreciate playing with a real work of art. when i play an actual gibson or fender or g&l, i feel this genuine, handcrafted touch to it. and i've had an OLP guitar for 3 years, so i know what cheap guitars are, and their surprising sound. i just want something awesome to play with now.
They all look shit hot! I don't think you will be dissapointed with whichever you choose. The hollowbody's have a slightly warmer tone than solid's and sound beautiful. Not to familiar with the ESP hybrid but it has the humbucker at bridge which will give a thicker sound to the guitar when plugged in. Have fun with the new guitar!
