Hehe actually I'm a great soccer/football fan (though I prefer basketball). Barça fan, specifically.
This year, when Spain won the European Cup, I did what I had never done in Spain: I went to celebrate the victory to the fountain of St Michel, in the centre of Paris, and I went into the water along with 100 spaniards, frenchies, germans and people who passed by and joined the party. One of those things you only do when you're abroad...

LOL, I was just joking. And rooting for Liverpool must be a good feeling, right? They beat Portsmouth last night and are still top of the Premier League. Best league in the world too, no doubt about that Wink

My side are 19th, terrible.

yeah all with no Torres the last few matches. Portsmouth was a pretty close got out of there with the pk from Gerrard. Hopefully they continue to play at such a high level. So you are a Bolton fan? I know they are 19th right now in the league.

Yeah, I'm a Bolton Wanderers fan. I try and get back home as often as I can to see the games, but I moved town when I went to university so it's mainly watching games in the pub these days. Me and some mates are heading to Anfield on Boxing Day to watch the Liverpool vs Bolton game. Can't wait, should be a laugh at least.

You have ground out results without Torres, which is great, but my bet is still on Chelsea. I think it'll be Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool third. But good luck to you, I like Liverpool, and I'd love you to finish above Chelsea.

Are you American? You see much football over there?

thats really cool. I am american. I wish I could actually see a professional match. All that I really get to see in america is the uefa champions leauge. The big international tourneys also . Or MLs which isnt close to worth watching and all of that is on t.v only.Yeah its tough to beat out Man U or Chelsea. They just have so much talent. I just hope chelsea doesnt win the leauge. I would give almost anything to be able to go to a liverpool match and even more to go to a world cup.

I hope this will be Liverpool's year at last. Rafa Benítez deserves it. I lived in Liverpool for several months in 2005, the year they reconquered the Champions League. I went to see the match against Juve (3-1) and the red colour, the songs, the atmosphere was amazing. Anfield is the greatest stadium I've ever been to.

PS: Please don't trade Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid!!
PS2: Don't you miss Ivan Campo a little bit in Bolton?

Seeing that you are a Bolton fan is interesting, Jim.

One of my heroes is Kevin Davies. Can't understand why he has never played for England at full level.

Did you know that he started out at Chesterfield, which is my home town team?

He had one of his best performances for us at Burnden Park, scoring a hat-trick in the last ever cup-tie at your old ground.

That was 11 seasons ago. We went on to the semi-final and lost a replay to Middlesbrough.

In the first game we were 2-0 up at old Trafford, before drawing 3-3.

Seems a long time ago. Happy days.

BTW, last time I contributed to a message board (Manic Street Preachers) some years back, there was so much traffic that you almost had to quit your job to keep up with it!

You lot are really quiet by comparison.

What do DCFC fans call themselves collectively?

If anyone is interested, I can recommend listening to the two most recent albums by The Cardigans. Their stuff is as equally desperate and disaffected as anything DCFC have done!

And the hardest part is yet to come

Much as I am an admirer of the band, I'm sure that morons would work for fans in some cases. Wink

Trotsky...do I miss Campo...well he was a funny guy, a character and he was at Bolton when we were much better than we are now, and in some ways he was a talented midfielder, but he was way past his best and the fact he's at Ipswich, a Championship side, is probably about fair, the Premiership is a very hard league for an ageing midfielder to be fair. My mates liked him though, and he seemed like a sorted bloke (didn't he get a cap for Spain?).

Cool Graham, my first football game was at Burnden Park, absolutely loved the place, the stadium we are at now (Reebok) is shit in comparison, no soul in that place. I like your football knowledge! And yeah, Davies is pretty much great, love how he roughs up the Manchester United players and makes Ferguson cry foul, he's an old-fashioned footballer and what the modern game needs in the age of diving and petulance. I actually think he'll play a big part in this Saturdays game against Manchester City (which I think we'll win).

If you fancy a pint before the Sheffield gig let us know!
