I'm definitely paying attention to all of it. I would anyway because I think it's important to know what's going on, but I'm also turning 18 in July, so I get to vote in this election. I don't like a single one of the Republicans at all, and I'm leaning towards Obama on the Democratic side. I'm definitely ready to just know who the candidates will be.

I think it's pretty pathetic of Hilary to start bashing members of her own party (Obama), it just shows how desperate she is to get into office. Instead of seeing the bigger picture, that the democrats NEED to win this election, she pulls the same bullshit propaganda the republican machine does, then she starts saying Obama can't handle that same pressure. I do think there are a lot of racist and sexist people still out there, especially in the older generation, and though I'm totally for it, it may just push the vote in the other direction. I really hope Obama wins though. If it's a republican, that Ron Paul guy doesn't seem so bad, I will not travel to america if John McCain gets in, which I'm almost 100% sure he won't.

As a political academic with expertise in the area of political leadership, (I'm starting my PhD in the field shortly) I feel pretty qualified to comment in the area. I will be regularly updating my myspace blog with thoughts on the US election. If anyone is interested on reading my thoughts I encourage them to subscribe to my blog.

Briefly though, I have to say I don't really have a clear idea who will get the nod for either party yet, just a gut feel. Hilary's victory today was to me totally expected. Although I am hoping at this stage anyone but her gets the Democratic nomination, my feeling is unless Edwards or Obama start focusing on policy detail, she'll end up winning the nom.

On the Republican side, I think Romney and Rudy are all but gone, for ironically the opposite reasons. Romney having deployed most of his resources and losing, and Rudy showing his arrogance not to care about these small early states and thereby surrendering all important momentum. This leaves McCain and Huckabee, a contest between these two will most likely be decided in the South, with the South Carolina primary providing an early indication as to the likely victor.

I think the big dance will be between Clinton and McCain, with the latter winning in a tight race. I hope i am proved wrong on both counts though.

Thank you for not claiming it was a "shocking victory" or some kind of amazing comeback like all the news anchors here are saying. It wasn't that surprising.

I heard today that commentators were saying Clinton's N.H victory was a 'surprise within a surprise' which is absolute hog wash. Any political commentator without an agenda knows that she had solid infrastructure on the ground, long before Obama did. N.H is all about grass roots network type campaigning. Most of the Clinton Camp worked on Kerry's successful primary campaign in 04, and her husband's before that. Most of these people already knew the system, and had the inside knowledge. The campaign had little to do with 'tears or no tears' as the media is so stubbornly reporting.

I never believed that Obama had a 10-13% lead in the polls the day before and I was proved correct. As it stands Obama never expected to win N.H anyhow, so basically its back to where it was 10 days ago, anybody's race.
