Huntington Biatch!
Naw, I dunno. California is pretty long, so it really depends on which areas you plan on traveling to. There's always Sea World, The San Diego Zoo, and the San Diego Wild Animal Park in San Diego (closer to San Diego the city and not the county which is like an hour or so extra of driving), though... among other things. Besides that, if you're over there, you might also try out TJ! (which might not be a good idea). To be quite honest though, as far as "cities" go, it's all about San Fransisco... San Diego is kinda cool, but it's pretty small... and LA as a "downtown" is kind of non existant and getting worse. (ultrautsukushii) |

Newport and Huntington are cool places to just stop by really quick to see the ocean cities. Monterey and San Francisco are awesome, like everyone has said. If you go there, be sure to stop along the Piers with the shops and rides--even if you don't plan on riding anything it's just an awesome place to be. San Diego is a great city, I think, and there is a lot to do there, and lots of sights to take in. But most of the happening spots are up north or way down south. Everything in between, including Orange County, doesn't have too much to see.
Oh and definitely check out LA. Even in all it's filth it definitely has some charm. This message has been edited. Last edited by: .Justin., ----------------- Unless otherwise stated, opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect the opinion of any organization of which I am a member. |

ok cool, sounds like I need to put more effort into planning haha. I'm definitely thinking san fran is the way to go. Hopefully this will be the first of many trips down there anyway, haven't been since I was pretty young. Anyone know any bands that might be touring around that time ? I know stars are touring the us soon.

San Diego is pretty cool, if you like beachy surfy kind of stuff. Sea World is like a total waste of money, though. Long Beach is really sweet. It's kind of like San Diego, but cleaner. I've heard San Francisco is awesome, but I've only been once. Don't go to LA unless you like waiting 2 hours to go 3 miles on the highway. That's all I know.

Long Beach is cleaner than San Diego?

oh, lordy...
first of all, if you want city by the bay action (cable cars, easier city to travel around, everything almost at your fingertips, etc.) then yes, SF is the place to be... if you have a vehicle at your disposal, southern california is WAY better around the time your thinking of visiting. SF is butt ass cold...not that it's much different here, lately... however, it's not quite as chilly as it can be up there for that time of year... secondly, you'll have to be pretty prepared for the driving around these parts... yes, there is the unnatural phenomenon of LA traffic, but if you judge it right and use the carpool lanes, you should be okay... you'll need many a map to help you avoid such catastrophes as rush hour traffic (los angeles AND orange county are wretched)... seeing the orange county coast for yourself is worth the detours and such... thirdly, san diego is much like the rest of southern california, spred all over the joint... AND their traffic matches ours bumper to bumper. lastly, you dunno what you're talking about saying ANYTHING about long beach vs. san diego... i'm a long beach NATIVE (residing there presently), and i lived in san diego throughout college plus some, 1995 - 2001, and visit there as much as i can... that being said... i adore every dirty nook and kranny in the lbc, as i know which parts to steer clear of... BUT the good ol' lbc has NOTHING on the pristine-ness of most of san diego (certain neighbourhoods aside)... let's put it this way... i'd rather get stuck in some of their "bad" neighbourhoods way the hell more than i'd wanna be stuck in the middle of downtown long beach! yeah, when mary said that San Diego was dirtier, I got a little confused, but then again I have only been to the dock area of Long Beach and the airport.

Well i live in the bay area so i don't really no much about the rest of california except LA is pretty sweet.
but in the bay area you should definatley check out SF and while you're there make sure you go see the piers. normally i would reccommend you go to santa cruz to check out the beach and the boardwalk, but i'm not sure how much you would enjoy the beach in cold weather. ------------------------------ [fool on hill] "avoid killer robots that go 'boop.' the other kind (the ones that go 'boo-oop') are fine." |
