The Jungle by Upton Sinclair

Has anyone read this? It's about the meat packing industry in the early 20th century and the injustices of capitalism. It's pretty tragic and disturbing.

Oh and earlier this year we read Beowulf. It was ridiculous how obsessed our teacher was about Beowulf; we did like six presentations about it. Which for me included singing a song about Beowulf to the tune of a Phil Collins song.

I really need to get a good book to read. Does anyone read fantasy books here? I'd like to read a good one, but I find most of them tedious and poorly written... Or part of some epic collection of 10 books that i don't want to get involved in.

yeah i just read it for LA
its pretty good which i'm suprised about because my teacher usually likes bad books. It's a little repetitive, but i also have a short attention span when it comes to reading so it might just be me.

hahaha i know! but i've just kind of made him into a joke. i really don't think that reading literature that old is that important and we certainly didn't need to spend as long as we did reading that. but it did prompt me to name my car 'Beowulf'. but not everyone thinks cars need to be named so it's debatable whether that counts as a positive or not.
