I'm going to try to post a quote of the day Mon-Fri (I don't work weekends...EVER!) To be honest most will probaby be from Stephen Colbert as I find him to be really quite amusing. Feel free to comment, discuss and enjoy them at you leisure.

Comment for Friday August 4, 2006:

Stephen Colbert on The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe- "This movie has been labeled a Christianity allegory because its hero, Aslan the lion, sacrifices his life on a hill top to save the world and through the power of love, rises from the grave to defeat evil. Sorry — doesn't work as an allegory. Last time I checked, Jesus wasn't a lion."

This is lame, plus you won't keep it up. Plus even if you do- it's lame and self-satisfying which shows how egotistical you are.

i didn't find anything about this thread to be lame or self satisfying, actually i thought it was a good idea and fun. and i found the fact that purp felt the need to criticize something as harmless as this really gay and his criticism to be a blatent yet feeble attempt at sounding smart or insightful and therefore self serving and egotistical.

cool thread. but the first quote is not well back-upped. C.S. Lewis was a Christian writer. So Aslan was definately made to be Jesus. or is he just saying it was a dumb comparison? or was he saying that people are making it up?

My turn for a quote since there is a weekend vacancy:

"Go on, get out - last words are for fools who haven't said enough."

To his housekeeper, who urged him to tell her his last words so she could write them down for posterity.
~~ Karl Marx, revolutionary, d. 1883

As a socialist I object to using such an inane Marx quote.

"One of the greatest impediments for philosophy is the expectation of new, deep//unheard of//elucidations"-Ludwig Wittgenstein.

In truth...while adding nothing to our fellow board members understanding of socialism...It's a pretty bad ass quote.
