So, my "Week 'o' Death Cab" seems to have extended itself into a "Month 'o' Death Cab."
Awesome. It all started with the Crystal Ballroom, in Portland, Oregon. Oh, what a beautiful venue. Thunderous reverberation... it was amazing. It then went on to include the tour finale yesterday at the Paramount, here in good 'ole Seattle. Still a top notch show, but small venues just can't be beat. And NOW, "MoDC" is going to include Deck the Hall Ball, on the 8th at the SHOWBOX!!!!! (Like old times) as well as another road trip to Portland on the 19th, to a show at the Crystal Ballroom again. Brittany and I will probably be the first people out there... again. Why? I ask you, why not? Thank goodness, we now have connections to a space heater. Oh, Tony and Nick. Anywho. Enough of this blabber, onto the PICTURES!!!!!!! (Please, remember that these were taken with an old Polaroid, and a not-what-one-would-call-high-quality Canon point and shoot. This is only because the Pentax K1000 is now somehow considered a "professional camera." Jerk Paramount. So, please forgive the graininess on a few of them.) (note: the two shows have been combined into one amazing photo spectacular!) I think I scared the security guard. I thought that he looked familiar, and so I beckoned him over, only to find out that he is a regular at MarketSpice... the place I work. I then snapped this shot of him; I may have just lost a customer. First up, was a lovely not-so-little band named Stars. I had never heard of them before... But now I know quite well who they are. This, obviously, is their bassist. I saw him at the market the first day they were in town. I recognized him right as I passed him, but I thought it might be a little odd if I ran after him along the arcade to say "good job" while still carrying a huge register in my arms. Just maybe. Might I add, they put on a rather spiffy live show. Yeah, Spiffy. And then, of course, Death Cab for Cutie. Not the best of photos, but I wanted to show the glorious return of GANDALF!!! The lighting was so well used at the Paramount show... ...perfect for each song. We Looked Like Giants was grand... ...even after the wave of destruction named "Ben Gibbard." Apparently, Mr. Nick Harmer here is secretly related to LeatherFace... or at least, that's how it seems. Crazy feet! Into the Dark is a bit in the dark. Brittany and I decided to hang back after the show and say a quick "hello" to the guys. Got some Polaroids quoted. The painting, and now this... now I really do feel like a fangirl. I'll go hang my head. A simple quote, for a simple picture. Brittany and I got to chat with Mr. Chris Walla here for a while about cameras. Ahh, it's always so nice when you can geek-out on music and photography in the same night. I also realize now, that I need to see what other people are doing in a photograph, so I can possibly follow along, and not look like a goon. C'est la vie. Right as we were heading out to go back to our respective apartments, Jason McGerr popped out of the bus. He graciously allowed us each to get a quick shot with him and welcome him back home to Seattle. It was nice to meet the elusive Jason. A so that's that, mes amis. |
