I've been able to get the jist of most DCfC songs, except this one. It's one of my favorites, especially the acoustic version on Forbidden Love, but I still don't quite get what "405" is about or what the 405 is. Please help me out

You wouldn't know because the 405 is a state route or junction or something here in Seattle. So when he says "I took the 405" he's just talking about that. However, I'm not positive about how that relates to the rest of the song, but apparently in his mind Ben connects the 405 with "an alcoholic summer" and someone throwing him askew by twisting the truth. I'm not really sure what to make of it, but it is a great song.

Actually, my best guess now is that while driving on the 405, Ben remembers reminiscing about the other things he describes in the song. Anyway, now that you know what 405 is, you can make your own guess. By the way, the meaning of A Movie Script Ending is quite unclear to me; can anyone explain?

405 goes along with the rest of the beginning of the album, some girl basically lying to him about things like not telling him she has a fiance, etc.

even if you didn't know what '405' was you can figure it out through context. I guess not everyone pays attention to lyrics..
