Woah, excellent pics, I'm blown away.... Ben looks like an iconic rock star! In the first one, it looks like he's about to swallow the microphone. Lovely. :]

Jesus holy Christ; the first picture looks more like Wolverine than it does Benjamin Gibbard.
A sophism of madness... |

Hey gp3, what camera do you use? I'm going to be buying a new camera soon and I want it to be able to take great concert photos like yours.

I'm interested in what kinda guitar that is... the first one (the black). Does anyone know where I can get one??

Fender Telecaster; just about anywhere. A sophism of madness... |

Wrong. I figured it out though: G & L Bluesboy TL Black What is different about it is that it has an F-hole while maintaining the normal pickguard of a telecaster. Fenders that have F-holes have crazy ugly pickguards. Google it if you wanna see what I'm talking about. (ultrautsukushii) |

Whoa. Nice catch; I didn't see the F hole in the top there in the first picture. I didn't know he was playing semihollows these days... A sophism of madness... |

There was the F-hole and the weird neck that gave it away. I think he had played semi hollows before, however. I know that he played a thinline telecaster for the postal service stuff. The neck is pretty ugly... If I got one, I'd probably try my best to swap it out for a fender neck. I like fender necks anyways. (ultrautsukushii) |

Yeah, if you see Ben or Chris playing a Tele - it's most likely not. They use G&L's pretty much all the time.

gp3 - Great shots.
not sure if i'm a fan of the chops though. maybe they'll.. grow on me --------------------------------- ...And I've always fallen fast with too much trust in the promising that "no ones ever been here, so you can quell those wet fears"... |

The gear page on their website (at least, last time I looked at it) had Ben playing '70s Teles. Guess that's more or less out the window, eh? Even Chris's yellow "Tele" isn't a Tele...? A sophism of madness... |

Looks like they just recently updated the gear page. They used to have Ben playing some '72 Thinlines, but they've taken that stuff out and put in the G&L's and J-45s. As for Chris, I'm not sure, but I remember him playing a G&L that looked like what you're describing. It seems weird that they would have it as a Tele on there, so maybe that is what he's playing... I don't feel like digging around for a pic of him playing it right now haha. edit: Here's a pic of Chris with his G&L. So that raises the question... who the hell wrote up that gear list?! http://flickr.com/photos/osvaldop/60942879/ |
