do you have the Japanese promo poster for The Photo Album, with all the Japanese writing on it? I actually have that if you don't. I'm assuming you do, but I don't know if you have all the foreign promo posters, so I figured I'd check.

Thanks Justin. No I don;t have the Japanese Photo Album poster. I have to draw the line somewhere! and non-US promo posters are currently that line. (although i have seen it and been tempted).

Hi there

Being an avid vinyl enthusiast, I would strongly (as you might been told from others here) stay away from cheap turntables.

With that said, there are fairly inexpensive 'excellent quality' tables you can purchase that will come with a good quality stylus/cartridge already installed.

Here are a few examples:

Music Hall MMF 2.1

Pro-Ject Debut III

Either of these will give you good performance, and will be a good investment if you begin to take vinyl collecting more seriously.

The key with vinyl is playing on a system that
A) sounds good
B) protects the quality of your records

Buying a cheap tables through Radio Shack ect will give you neither of these, and will destroy your vinyl. Obviously proper care of your records is a must too, manhandling will cause them severe playback noise.

As for buying bands today who release vinyl? Yes, most do. For example, The Verve just released their latest 'Fourth' on vinyl, and most European countries still press vinyl as an active part of their release catalog. North America is now starting to realize this, and pressing also.

As for DCFC albums, these are now either deleted, or not orderable. I can help you with one album, as I carry it in my current catalog, and have them in stock currently:

Death Cab For Cutie LP

If you have any more questions about records, or record collecting, drop me a line.

Cheers

You can pick up DCFC vinyl Plans from Barsuk and the should have Narrow Stairs in October. Also, Barsuk like some other sellers will give you a high quality digital download link if you pre-odrer.

They are shortly releasing a Nada Surf box set too, which will be be worth you getting a turntable for.

I think it says the NS vinyl should be out September 16th, not October.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if it got pushed back even more...

Is there any news on this? The date has been removed from the barsuk page and the amazon entry says the vinyl version has been discontinued by the manufacturer.

Could this be some sort of dispute between atlantic and barsuk because of the commercial success of this album?

I don't think it's dispute, just logistics of agreeing cover art and getting the vinyl pressed and assembled.

I don;t know anything, but my guess is late October release, just because everything in the world of vinyl seems to take a couple of months longer than you thought it would.

Insound emailed me that there have been some manufacturing delays and the street date of the release has been pushed back. The new release date is still TBD, but should be sometime in November.

Hey guys, let's keep the vinyl discussion to the Vinyl Thread in the main forum. I didn't notice there were two threads on the same thing...
