i've noticed that when they play bixby canyon bridge live, it sounds like someone is humming or something...is that ben?/what is that? i havent been to one of their concerts this year and it's difficult to tell from the recordings

You mean the "dreaaaaaaaammmmmm" part? Ben is using an E-Bow on his guitar, I guess it kinda sounds like that.
