This video is an enigma to me. I love the video. I think it's great. But the story surrounding it HAS to be a joke. Just HAS to be a joke. If it's not, then the guy who made it is a joke. Anyone who bought the DVD, watch the "treatment" and the "director's comments." Then read the "Bio and Credits" and reply with what you think.
The guy said, "I'm embarrassed this is on the DVD." THEN WHY WOULD YOU AGREE TO IT?
It’s a joke. In one of the interviews with DCFC on the DVD they mention the video and say how they did not want it to look fake and that it was hard for them to play and not laugh while Lance was on stage. Also in the “Director's Statement”, Lance says it was all one cut and that he did it on his phone but there is no phone with that high of quality of video and sound so it was a shot with a real camera. There is a cut around the part right before he shows the typed up “DCFC” sign, you can tell because there is a fad from one part to the other, or it just looks like there is one.
Any way in the “Director's Statement” of the video Lance sticks out his tongue to show his fake scar. On my DVD right after that there are some very bad image fragments but its funny because its of his Eyes and tongue. Does any one else have this little glitch on their DVD or is it just me.

Yeah, I had the same glitch.
I had the same thought about the quality of the video, too. When I first watched the "Director's Comments," I was actually angry at the guy for being such an idiot about the whole thing. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized it was a joke. The line at the end about the Decemberists being a braver band kinda seals the deal.
Ok, so I'm disappointed now. I went down to 2 stores yesterday and both of them (Tower and Best Buy) had the DVDs but couldn't locate them in the store! So now I have to wait to see this last video, hear the kids playing "Different Names" and catch the other treatments. This sucks.
I bought mine at Wal-Mart of all places. My Target sucks when it comes to stuff like this and I didn't want to pay full price at Sam Goody. So if Wal-Mart has it, Best Buy and Tower most definately have it.
I can't believe i bought that, it seemed so authentic, seriously. but yeah you guys must be right, death cab wouldn't have put a guy on the dvd who seemed to resent them so much.

Thanks Aaron. I actually found it the next day, so all is right with the world again. :-) Great Director's statement by the way... although i always pictured you to be a bit taller!

The DVD is packaged in a jewel case, the size of CDs, so it should be filed right with Death Cab's CDs... Not in the DVD section, perhaps?

at first, i was so confused while watching the video. after watching the commentary, i could not stop laughing. it was actually a pretty cool idea, but that was pretty elaborate for a witty, fabricated commentary.
