This was a great video for the song. Pretty simple but beautiful and carrying a great message.

I thought the video was interesting. It became as sad and yet eerily as happy as the words of the song. This February has been a tough month, and I personally know of five people who have passed away (luckily none that are immediate family) so I can in a way relate to the intent of the song having seen people mourn, I just don't know if the picture book carried it off as dramatically as the lyrics suggest. It tugged at my heart, but more so by the simplicity of seeing a dead rabbit, rather than from being sucked into the story itself. It's hard to get emotionally attached to a cartoon bunny in 3 minutes I guess.
Interesting video concept though. In terms of creativity, I think it is the best so far, but my favorite is still different name.
I can't say enough good things baout this whole concept. There are a bunch of artists (Long winters, Leaves, white stripes as examples) that I would love to see this type of thing done. Good work guys keep it up.

I thought they were both "boy" bunnies. It's so much better that way.

hahaha Joe. I was just about to make some stupid Brokeback Mountain joke and then I saw your location. That's pretty funny. Being a filmy kinda guy, what was the effect layered over that made it seem like it was a watery reflection through a porthole on a ship?

It was the "brown bunny" that gave it away. For all you Vincent Gallo fans, you know what I'm talking 'bout.

Anyway, those rabbits are SOOO homo, I love it.

It was done with some kind of smoke filter over the camera lens. It seems like it could have been done through lighting but there is only one shadow, so I'd rule that out.

We used to get a similar effect by lighting a peice of glass and then have water drip over it. It's an interesting effect. It doesn't look like they did that here though.

If they were lazy, it's something you can add while editing, on the computer. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Overall, nice effect, though.

The most important thing in filmmaking may be this - never pretend you know something when it's obvious you don't.

The effect was done in post production. It's an animated graphical layer. Elements such as fire, water, smoke, etc. are the most difficult thing to create in CG - but you have more control over their changes over time. To get it to feel organic and less simulated is a definite challenge and isn't lazy whatsoever.

A smoke filter does not actually feature moving smoke within it.

So was this a water effect? It looked like it was done in cgi to me but I don't know much about video editing and the filming with the thingys and whatnot with the editing and stuff. What programs do people use these days for cgi ?

Dude you're such an asshole. Seriously. Get over yourself.

And you're wrong. The most important thing about filmmaking is surrounding yourself with people who know their departments VERY well.

Like I said, if they are lazy, they would do it in post production. It's much more impressive if they would have done it in with the lighting. Everyone can press a few buttons a stupid computer.

whoa whoa hold up now. Leave computers out of this.

Joe, Aaron knows his shit, he's not an asshole for proving you wrong with the moving smoke in a smoke filter thing, or knowing more about video production or cgi and "pressing a few buttons on a stupid computer" = an ignorant statement.

Let's all just chillax and either have a decent discussion about the video and it's content, or shut the hell up and enjoy the videos for what they are.

The ironic thing is that I was going to say they did it in post, but I thought they'd be a little more creative than that. I guess I'm a little more old school (film over digital) and in our classes we learned how to do our own camera/lighting effects. But seriously, it's comparable to cheap photoshop tricks.

It's not the "proving me wrong" that is upsetting. It's the constant condescension.

But back to the video, I still love those HOMO rabbits. It's a great video, and someone mentioned the most powerful moment, when the first rabbit nudged the dead rabbit.

Best video with gay rabbits. EVER!

PS. Don't ever say "chillax" ever again (unless you're high)

I am not high, and it's all part of my plan to bring back my teenage lingo. Booyaw has resurfaced indefinately and it's only a matter of time before it takes over. Chillax and Sike are working there way up the charts. There's also "WHERE YO TICKET AT, I SAID WHERE YO TICKET AT" which is based off of Anthony working the greyhound in seattle who throws bags at old ladies.

So if you can get the same effect doing it in cgi as you could doing it with lighting what's the difference? Also, why do you ALWAYS bring up homosexuality. We all know you enjoy the company of men, we get it, we don't care, if you're insecure maybe you should talk to someone about it but seriously, you don't have to always bring it up. I don't talk about straightness all the time.
