The best way is to know somebody who knows somebody. If you're like me (don't kno too many people) you need to make a mixtape to show the public that you can hit a beat jus as hard as the artist. Then you do your album and pass it out. I live in Miami so I have a lot of places to go. Try to find people who aren't signed yet and try to feature on whatever they are doin...it increases your chance of being heard. Keep up with your critics and keep comin out stronger.

I am a lyricist/poetry writer and I will be putting together a CD with my songs and possibly unknown artists to sing, would this help my chances of getting known among artists for lyric writing?
Talent doesn't just come. You have to work do it your all and be your best, It's really important to know you shouldn't give up. So techincally you can write songs later on about what you've been through and all that kind of stuff.
